Good links. Thanks. Funny to see that in none of those articles anything definite is said about were the 00 in n00b comes from, appart from speculating that it must come from newb being pronounced a lot like noob.

"n00b" comes from people who have played a game over 100 times yet still play the game as fools. Kind of funny that the original poster and most people in the thread thus far have spelled it incorrectly as "noob".

The "00"s are representative of having played over 100 times.

Basically a derivative of the word "newbie", but used as an insult to someone who is not new but still plays as if he is.

it is not confortable to type "n00b" on the keyboard, much less that "noob"
i think there's an explanation, and this one (the hundred times think) seems fine

Usually the ppl who are using the term noobs has low self esteem, no social life and the only world theat they live in or recognize is the virtual world. How many times has any of us played a new game and took a little while to figure it out?...

Its kind of like when I was at Yaks the other dya selling shields and swords and this guy showed me his shield and ran off. I asked him what was that and he told me that mine sucked lol. i had to explain to him that I was selling not keeping- get the concept- something you dont want/need you sell it?!@!

Or how about this guy that I saw in Droks a while back getting his armor( I was selling him iron and the likes) right. Well I happen to run into him at Copperhammer and he was all about "You sure havent gotten very far" This guy got a run to Droks then to Copperhammer I found out and then wanted me to run him to Iron and if I could make it then to Citadel !!lol and I'm the noob lol. Just told him good luck to you.

I personally just blow it off because I know that in the "real" world that I am better than them and that I have to go to work to pay my bills

Just stupid.
And do not get me started on people trying to rip off new players.

I'm using it metaphorically in the sense that they should stop playing.

I play noob but more often than not, it is just out of fun.

People always assume others to be inexperienced, because of the fact that PREVENTING a problem is better than having to deal with the consequences.

i.e. in Fissure when someone seems to be running off and you warn them not to go any further or they will trigger a mob.

ALL YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT IS HAVING FUN... i know that sounds corny but its tru. All those jerks out there can go wallow in there own pee......... or w/e they wallow in "there mom's basement"(courtesy of "leet paladin")...

ive allways tried ot be the defender of the noob, i hang around HoH, ToA, and Iron Mines (infusion mission) and someone is obviusly bound to ask a silly questions about infusion, halls, or how to get into UW and someone is allways tehre to bich at them about how much of a nub they are but i love the feeling of getting all up in their cookie cutter iway grills.
